COLOURS ANNOUNCED
Colours for Hild Bede AFC members have been announced. Check out the Colours
2002 page for a full run-down.
FIRSTS HOPES DASHED
Any hopes the first team had of stealing the title away from
Collingwood have been dashed following a 4-2 defeat to Grey A. The firsts
will now be hoping to go all the way in thr trophy. Their next match is
against Aidans A.
FOURTHS SIGN OFF WITH A WIN
The fourths ended their run of defeats yesterday with a 2-1
win over Johns B in a scrappy match on a dreadful pitch. The result should
guarantee the fourths a top five position. Meanwhile, the D's resident
Mr Hild Bede managed to make it a whole season without scoring. Maybes
next year Strongbow!
SECONDS EDGE DERBY MATCH
The seconds edged a 2-1 win in the Derby match against the
thirds last Wednesday, a result which sees the seconds move closer to
the thirds in the league, although promotion for both teams now looks
way out of reach.
D IS FOR DISAPPOINTING
The fourths slipped to yet another disappointing defeat yesterday
when they fell to a 2-1 defeat to Cuths C in a fairly even encounter.
The D's once again threw away an early lead, conceding just before half
time, and fifteen minutes nito the second half. Enigma is said to be disappointed
at his sides recent underachievement and is hoping for a better performance
when the D's take on strugglers Johns B on Saturday
FIRSTS BACK IN TITLE HUNT
The firsts are back in the title race after Collingwood dropped two vital
points to Aidans B. This means the firsts can still win the title - despite
losing to Collingwood earlier this year, if they can win their remaining
four matches - good luck lads!!
FIFTHS TAKE ON THE MOOSES - AND WIN!
Okay, so this is old news, but the fifths took on the Mooses
in a charity match for Duck week, dressed in drag, and thumped them 9-2!
FOURTHS SET TO GO ON TOUR!
The fourth team are set to go on an end of season tour to York
after having agreed a friendly match with a pub team there. The fourth
team boys were out in force in York on Saturday as part of York City's
Fans United day, doing there part to save the third division club from
extinction, but when the match was called off, they instead spent the
day in "The Bootham Tavern" where they were seen to be drinking
heavily and joining in with the football chants from fans from all over
the country - as well as spreading the Hild Bede word, by wearing their
Hild Bede football shirts, and starting chants of "Hild and Bede,
la la la, Hild and Bede ,la la la".
Impressed by claims, later dismissed, that Hild and Bede were an Italian
non-league side, owner of the Bootham Tavern challenged the fourth teamers
to a game against there own pub side - which sports at least 4 ex-professional
players. The game will hopefully take place at the end of the season and
is being billed as the Philedougalec testimonial match, with all proceeds
going to the York City supporters fund.
HILD BEDES FIRST RED CARD IN THREE YEARS?
As far as I know, Dougal became the first Hild Bede player
to be sent from the field of play in three years, when he was ejected
for his Gordon Banks style save a few weeks ago. Anyway, check this link
out. It will make you laugh. Probably.

FIRSTS CRASH TO COLLINGWOOD
Collingwood A rounded off a miserable week for HBAFC by scoring
two late goals to beat Hild Bede A and virtually end their title aspirations.
The A's will be hoping for a Collingwood collywobble to let them back
in the hunt, with their far superior goal difference.
FOURTHS DROP OFF PROMOTION PACE
The fourths dreams of promotion crashed and burned last week
after a midweek cup and league double whammy to Hatfield B and a spirited
defeat to New College A on Sunday.
The D's went down 3-1 in a disappointing display against Hatfield, despite
taking the lead, but then did themselves proud in a fine display against
New College A, losing out 2-1, after taking the lead again, only to concede
to a moment of lost concentration from the second half kick off and a
fine individual goal from New Colleges skillful winger.
THE MYSTERY OF BRITNEYS BREASTS
After all our rather depressing results this week, I thought
you might like this rather light hearted fun link to cheer you all up!!

CRUCIAL CLASH APPROACHING FOR THE FIRSTS
AND FOURTHS
The firsts face a crucial clash with Collingwood A on Sunday
that is likely to decide the premier league title, with both teams currently
sporting an impressive 100% record. Good luck lads!
Meanwhile, the fourths face a mammoth fixture against New College A which
will make or break any hopes of promotion which they may harbour.
Also coming up this week is the fourths clash with Hatfield B in the cup
and league on Wednesday, and the big Hild Bede derby between the B's and
the C's. A busy old week for HBAFC, it seems!
FOURTHS STROLL TO MAINTAIN PROMOTION PACE
The fourth team strolled to a 4-1 win over New College B on
Saturday with goals from Enigma, Clogs, a superb strike from Hylands reminiscent
of Gazzas against Scotland, and a fine header from Moore who scored his
fourth in just 3 games when coming on as a sub.
The scoreline could have been much higher with Strongbow - still looking
for his elusive first goal, Langy, Macca, Dodds and Diddy all going close
on numerous occasions.
The result keeps them in the promotion hunt with a massive fixture coming
up next weekend against title contenders New College A. With the D's facing
Hatfield B in the cup on Wednesday, it's gonna be a busy week for the
flying fours!
THIRDS FALTER
The thirds lost 3-2 in the league on Saturday, Details to follow.
LINKS TO TABLES ARE UP
Links to the rather belated league tables on the DUAU website
are now upon the "League Tables" page.
FOURTHS IN LAST GASP WIN AS JACKSON SEE'S RED
The fourths snatched a vital 3 points from Aidans C's grasp
when Ed "Macca" Beale fired home in the final few minutes, in
the match on Sunday. The fourths were down to ten men after Jacksons inspired
diving save on the line left the referee with no option but to reach for
the red on 75 minutes, but the fourths gritty determination shone through,
and even with ten men they looked the more likely to score, and their
pressure eventually paid off.
The fourths had gone infront through a sliced clearence from an Aidans
defender which balloned up into his own net, but Aidans soon equalised
after some sloppy defending let in their striker, who finished well.
1-1 at half time, Enigma switched from his adventurous 4-3-3 formation
to a more orthodox 4-4-2, and Bede did take the lead again from a second
Aidans own goal. But, then, just as Aidans were about to score again,
it was Jacksons inspired save, tipping the ball around the post which
led to his dismissal, and ultimately, the Aidans equaliser from the penalty
spot.
Despite being down to ten men, Bede piled on the pressure in search of
the winner, and had several good chances before Ed Beale finally found
the net after a poor clearance from a corner kick.
Another three points sees the D's consolodate their third place in the
table, with some tough matches to come. Time will tell how important Jacksons
super save will be as he misses the next few games at the heart of the
defence through suspension.
FIRSTS THRASH HATFIELD
The firsts upped the pressureon Collingwood D at the top of
the Premier division with a sound 6-1 thrashing of Hatfield A. Details
to follow...
FOURTHS LOOK FOR PROMOTION PUSH
With the fourths sitting in equal-2nd in the table (4th on
goal difference only), 4th team captain, Enigma, is looking forward to
having his full squad back to full fitness after the christmas break,
so that they might push for a promotion place. WIth Aidans B racing away
at the top, the first spot seems unlikely, but Enigma will be hopnig that
at full strength, his team can steal second from stuttering New College
A.
FIFTHS IN SENSATIONAL LATE SHOW
A sensational late show from the fifths saw them snatch 3 points
from the jaws of defeat with two late goals to sink Aidans C on Saturday.
Toplas scored what is sure to be one of the freak goals of the season,
with a long range volley dropping almost vertically into the net despite
the 'keeper being stood right underneath it! The result leaves them snapping
on the heels of the injury plagued 4ths, just one point behind, but having
played one more game.
THIRDS ROMP TO VICTORY
The thirds recorded another impresive victory on Saturday with
a 4-0 win over a depleted Van Mildert B side.
FOURTHS WIN SNATCHED AWAY IN LAST 5
The fourth team had 3 points snatched away from them in the
last 5 minutes of the game against Grey C on Wednesday. Despite taking
a first half lead through a superb goal from Liam Hylands, Bede never
really took control of the game and Grey C always looked threatening.
Despite this, however, Bede should have been 2-0 up when Enigma scored
a blinder right into the top corner (quote from Grey C keeper) "I
think that's the best finish I'll see all season", however the
ref had already blown for offside for someone who wasn't interfering with
play. Git! With only five minutes remaining, the 4's received some of
the same punishment that they had dished out in the last 5 against Grad-Soc
when a sliced clearance from otherwise excellent debutant Jon Hardman
fell to a Grey striker who actually managed to find the target for the
first time in the entire match!
SECONDS LOSE THRILLER
The seconds have lost 6-3 to SNOW from Stockton with captain
Mark blaming defensive frailties. More details to follow.
SECONDS IN CUP THRASHING
Poor, poor Trevs C. When they turned up to play the seconds
in a cup game, they must have expected a tough match. But, 10-0 down after
barely more than a half of football, and it was down to the ref to keep
the scoreline down - by declaring the match over as soon as the 10th went
in!
THE MOORE THE MERRIER!!
Nick Moore made a sensational debut for the 4th team yesterday
with a superb hat-trick to help the 4th team to a stuttering 5-4 win against
Grad Soc B in what was quite possibly the worst collective performance
seen from the fourth team this season.... full
match report!
SECONDS BOUNCE BACK WITH IMPRESSIVE WIN
After being on the receiving end of a 4-1 defear by Aidans
A, the second team have bounced back in style with a 5-1 drubbing of Cuths
B. Both Nick Davies and Dave Hitchman bagged a brace in the seconds biggest
win of the season. Incidentally, the second
team pages have been updated with all the
latest results and top scorers
CASTLE B : WIN WHEN YOU'RE RINGING
Castle B did the double over Hild Bede teams yesterday with
a comprehensive 10-0 win over the fifths. However, it was a far from fair
or deserved double after they decided to field another team packed with
ringers, including a first team striker who got 4 in the first half. 7
up at half time, they obviously felt things were looking a bit noticeable
and so pulled off most of their ringers at half time. Credit to the fifths
who put up a good battling second half performance, and indeed a good
overall performance considering Castle (and the referees) blatant disregard
of the rule-book.
FIFTHS WIN AGAIN!!
The fifths have done the unthinkable, and made it two wins
on the trot with a superb victory in an 11 goal goalfest against St Johns
B. The fifths are now on equal points with the fourths, having played
a game extra. Next up for the mighty 5's is Castle B, whom they may have
a chance against if half of their A-team don't turn up again. Come on
fifths, get some good old HB revenge and give those f***ing Rahs a thrashing!!!
FIRST TEAM CONTINUES TO SHINE
The first teams bid for title glory continues after another
fine win. A good solid performance saw them come out 2-1 winners against
Collingwood B, with skipper Lally, and Foster notching the two goals.
